A young engineer is called back home, which he had left years before. The house is a crumbling, old mansion in which his father still works, illegally distilling vodka, much of which he drinks himself. He is alcoholic and unhappy. His sister is cynical and disturbed, had attempted suicide. His aunt is tired and sour. Their purpose to bring him there is to play on his sympathies and eventually make stay, to make him work and take care of them. He refuses and returns back to the city.

A young Italian boy accidentally falls overboard while yachting with his father on the Mediterranean. He is rescued by a boatload of undocumented immigrants attempting to reach Italy by sailing across the Mediterranean. On the ship, he is befriended by a young Romanian man and his sister. The film follows the relationship of the Italian boy with the Romanian once they reach the Italian shores.

This mild comedy finds two envoys from Hell sent to Earth to cause trouble. Relfagor (Vittorio Gassman) and his faithful sidekick Adramalek (Mickey Rooney) start out by disintegrating the peace soon to take place between Rome and Florence. While traveling, they manage to seduce the wife of an innkeeper, induce the wife of a nobleman to engage in adultery, and cause a wealthy count to lose all his money and die in disgrace at his own hands. When Relfagor falls for the lovely Magdalena (Claudine Auger), he loses his magic powers and becomes a mere mortal.

Amateur detective Father Ignatius Brown defies his Bishop and decides to transport to Rome a holy relic from his church - a cross that once belonged to St. Augustin - rather than allow the more elaborate plans to proceed. On the channel crossing he becomes suspicious of a fellow traveler, a Mr Dobson, whom Brown quickly determines is not the automobile salesman he claims to be. He does befriend another priest whom he takes into his confidence but soon realizes that his suspicions should have been reversed.

Like Beethoven composed music while losing his hearing, Luchian paints as his fingers are paralyzed. The recreation of the artist's life is so complete that it was filmed in the same bed and room where Luchian spent the last moments of his life.

During the War of 1812 against the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland: General Andrew Jackson has only 1,200 men left to defend New Orleans when he learns that a British fleet will arrive with 60 ships and 16,000 men to take the city. In this situation an island near the city becomes strategically important to both parties, but it's inhabited by the last big buccaneer: Jean Lafitte. Although Lafitte never attacks American ships, the governor hates him for selling merchandise without taxes - and is loved by the citizens for the same reason. When the big fight gets nearer, Lafitte is drawn between the fronts. His heart belongs to America, but his people urge him to join the party that's more likely to win.
