There is nothing quite like a big multi-sport Games like the Olympics or Commonwealth Games to bring all those patriotic feels to the surface. And who wouldn’t want to cheer for our amazing Triathletes and Paratriathles, they did so amazingly well. Jake Birtwhistle’s insanely fast run split (14:36min for 5km!) that got him into the Silver medal position was just awesome to watch. Matt Hauser, the 20-year-old rising star, didn't let the big occasion shake his nerves - he raced with composure beyond his years of experience. The Gold medal in the Mixed Team Relay, and seeing Ash Gentle's personal redemption (after she was left gutted from her individual race just two days earlier), was an incredibly proud Aussie moment. And then the Paratriathlon - just WOW! The respect I have for these athletes to overcome their disabilities and race a triathlon is immeasurable. AT’s Korupt Vision captured all the action for us - head to page 08 for some of our faves. For even more photo greatness, head to our website: austrimag.com.au/gallery. In this edition we also get the play-by-play from AT's resident Doc Mitch Anderson on his record-breaking 24-hour ride – I have no words for this incredible feat (page 30). Christian Newbold brings us the story of one of the most fascinating athletes in Ironman today – Cam Wurth (page 22). And much-loved triathlon age group star, Jenny Alcorn is this months #INSPO (page 34). We have some great training tips in the Training Toolbox (starting page 64) and look at some new and exciting tri products in Tech Talk (page 44). It’s yet another jam-packed edition that will satisfy all your tri training and racing needs! So, get reading.
