This album is a winner of Swing Journal 2008 Jazz Disc Best Production Award. Swing Journal Gold Disc! On this recording, Rea's piano is slightly placed to the right and Sellani's to the left, but their sounds merge and intersect with each other in the middle. The music they create together is beautiful, lyrical and emotional. What stands out is their "singing" quality which can be attributed to their Italian heritage. The heartwarming interaction of two great souls is captured with marvelous sonics: the pianos sound pure, natural, detailed and warm. This is a wonderful, wonderful piano duo album.

A native of Italy, Renato Sellani has fast become one of the most popular jazz pianists in Europe. Japanese producer Tetsuo Hara discovered him and has recorded him regularly for his Venus label.

Italian pianist Danilo Rea started playing jazz in 1975 with the well-known Trio di Roma. Through the years he's worked with Chet Baker, Lee Konitz, Bob Berg, Michael Brecker, Tony Oxley, Dave Liebman, Kenny Wheeler and John Scofield.

At age 80, Sellani recorded his Japanese debut CD for Venus Records, My Foolish Heart, which caused a sensation. Actually they recorded two CDs worth of music, and the twin CD O Sole Mio was released at the same. But Venus producer Tetsuo Hara was so impressed with Sellani that he went ahead with another recording shortly thereafter, this time a piano duo project with Danilo Rea, another great Italian pianist of a younger generation.
