"I spent more time making Outside Notion, it had been through several incarnations before I settled on this set of songs. Taking the writing process in a new direction and introducing subtle orchestral elements. I worked with Amy May (The Xx, Aphex Twin, John Cale) a brilliant arranger & violinist. We referenced the pastoral works of English composers such as Vaughan Williams & Robert Kirby. Young Dreams was a real breakthrough in songwriting terms & was a catalyst for the rest of the album. Ultimately i like that there is still a sense of ambiguity in these songs, not everything needs to be spelt out or to make immediate sense. Sarah Suri (Nano Kino) also joins me on the song, Outside Notion which subsequently became the title of the record."
