Of his Symphony No. 6, Pyotr Illyich Tchaikovsky wrote, But I absolutely consider it to be the best, and in particular, the most sincere of all my creations. I love it as I have never loved any of my other musical offspring. Tchaikovskys Symphony No. 6 was the composers final completed symphony. He led the premiere performance in October of 1893, only nine days before his death. This release also includes the world premiere recording of the Rusalka Fantasy. This orchestral suite is taken from Dvoraks opera by Manfred Honeck and Tomas Ille. Performing these works is the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, which has a long and rich history of touting the worlds finest musicians and conductors. This is the fifth release in the well-received Pittsburgh Live! Series.

Director and violinist Alexander Janiczek leads principal players from the Scottish Chamber Orchestra in this beautifully intimate recording. Mozart's writing allows each player to shine and demonstrates the depth of talent within the ensemble, illustrating why this orchestra has had such extensive success with its previous Mozart recordings. Now 23 years old, she has abundantly fulfilled her early promise as a radiantly talented as well as singularly earnest prodigy, and grown into a brilliant violinist and a communicative, arresting performer. On this recording, which features Bach's Violin Concertos in A minor, BWV 1041 and E major, BWV 1042, as well as the Concerto for two violins in D minor, BWV 1043 and the Concerto for violin and oboe in C minor, BWV 1060, her flawless technique and strikingly beautiful, intensely focussed tone are on full display.

Marco Boni leads the Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra on this recording featuring Haydn's best known early symphony, his No. 22, subtitled "The Philosopher." The album also includes Symphony No. 44 "Mourning", a portion of which Haydn asked to be played at his funeral; the Symphony No. 64, nicknamed "Tempora Mutantur" ("the times change"), completes the programme.
