People display status. Why? How?•"Humans live in a social world in which relative rank matters for nearly everything – your access to resources, your ability to attract mates, and even how long you live," – David BussThe course aims to provide clarify over the nature of status. Why it exists and what forms. It provides important knowledge to help understand ourselves and perhaps look a little deeper into our daily interactions. There is an introduction to status and why is it important. From prehistoric roots there has always existed a pecking order a dominance hierarchy but has this paradigm really disappeared or become more complex? We rate and rank ourselves in various dimensions. In groups we create competence hierarchies based on what is most valuable in that context. What is most valuable to survive in our complex social world? What we value in a social hierarchy is more complex to elaborate it may be things like; intelligence, social skills/status, social networks, resources/access to resources, physical prowess, attractiveness and so on this is what is valued in our world. This course lets you understand status from the perspective of biology, acting and psychology. What does it mean to have someone play 'high status' and 'low status'. Learn about body language, tone of voice and interaction.
