The Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) of India is the legislation that governs the procedural aspects of criminal law in India. It provides the framework for the investigation, trial, and punishment of criminal offenses. The CrPC was enacted in 1973 and has undergone several amendments since then.

The CrPC covers various aspects of criminal procedure, including the powers and jurisdiction of courts, arrest and detention of accused persons, bail and bonds, investigation by the police, gathering and recording of evidence, the process of trial, sentencing, and appeals. It is applicable to all criminal cases except those that are governed by special laws or regulations.

Doctors, clinicians and healthcare workers are involved in medicolegal work on day-to-day basis for which they need to be aware of all the sections of CrPC. This book has 37 chapters further divided into 484 sections. Till now only a few sections of CrPC were described in textbooks during undergraduate and postgraduate training in medical school which was not sufficient to equip them with complete knowledge about CrPC. Medicolegal issues can be involved in any field, therefore this fulfils a strong need to have a book exclusively on this topic so as to discuss all the sections of CrPC in brief.
