An archaeological team unearths the body of a young woman, who was said to be a witch, buried in a bog some 300 years ago. Soon a naked woman appears and drives the men of the village crazy. Everybody is certain that this really is the witch killed in days of yore. At the end, the wild happenings during those few days appeared to be a dream of the professor leading the excavations.
The film is considered to be one of the first Finnish horror movies, along with Linnaisten vihreä kamari (1945) and Valkoinen peura (1952). The nudity scenes provoked a stir at the time, and helped the film to get sold to the United States and West Germany.
