Gerald Byrd became known as Jerry Byrd, was the legendary Hawaiian steel guitar master. In fact, his plaque in the Steel Guitar Hall of Fame proclaims him to be "The Master of Touch and Tone". Although his initial interest was Hawaiian music much of his work was Country. He was inducted into the Steel Guitar Hall of Fame in 1978 as # 1 and his Rickenbacker lap steel is housed at the Country Music Hall of Fame. In 1950, Jerry did his first solo steel guitar recordings under his name. Before he finished, he had recorded over 280 sides and had 25 albums released on eight labels. This is his 1966's album, recorded for the Monument label.
