This one is the jewel of Symphonic and Psychedelic-Rock from Latin America in the early seventies.
The name of the band was “Frutos Del País”, and I could compare their music with Procol Harum, which is clearly their main influence.
The LP is a rarity sought by vinyl collectors from around the world, who are willing to pay up to €300, for the never re-issued in vinyl, original edition of the album, as I had the opportunity to verify by myself.
Even if the influence of Procol Harum is undeniable, one has to bear in mind that at the time Chile was almost isolated from the rest of the world, and the music from influential bands from the UK and Europe was unavailable. One of the main merits of “Frutos Del País” was to break apart from the Andean-Folk roots, that the rest of the Chilean Rock bands relied upon, to favor a more cosmopolitan brand of Rock. In that sense they have to be considered the first Symphonic-Rock band of South America.
Having said my part, I’ll leave you with this gem of an album, that brings back so many memories, and that maybe some of you have heard before.Fran Solo (translate to English by wajorama), XXIVIII
