The music world needs new standards. Not just qualitatively. Robin McKelle, the Paris based vocalist from New York, is setting and singing such new standards.
Her ninth solo album "Alterations" sees the 43-year-old interpreting favorites by those female songwriters, who inspired and moved her to become the "powerful and expressive alto voice" she is today (Blues & Soul). They range from Dolly Parton to Amy Winehouse, from Janis Joplin via Carol King, Billie Holiday, Joni Mitchell, Adele and Lana Del Ray, on to Sade. The fact that this album of musical Alterations makes for perhaps Robin McKelles most personal work speaks volumes about her abilities and her artistry.
