Originally composed as a solo piano suite between 1914 and 1917, Le Tombeau de Couperin pays homage not only to the Baroque composer François Couperin but also to friends Ravel lost during World War I. Each movement is dedicated to a fallen soldier, blending elegance with a deep sense of remembrance.
