Münchner Rundfunkorchester - Johann Wilhelm Wilms- Symphony No. 6 op. 58 - Overtures (2024) [Official Digital Download]

It was founded in 1952 as the second radio ensemble of the Bavarian Radio (with the already existing Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra) to perform mainly light music, including operettas. Later, the orchestra also participated a lot in concert and radio performances of operas, especially Italian ones. Among the singers who performed with the orchestra were Luciano Pavarotti and Edita Gruberova, and Placido Domingo performed with the orchestra as conductor in 1986; in 2013, Domingo and Anna Netrebko soloed in a concert performance of Giuseppe Verdi's opera Joan of Arc at the Salzburg Festival. At the same time, the orchestra's achievements include the concert series "Paradisi gloria", dedicated to the sacred music of the XX—XXI centuries.
