Matthieu Chazarenc, refined drummer, sideman all devoted to the music of others, decided at the dawn of his forties to release a first record under his name in 2018 : Canto exact echo of his feelings of the moment. For this first trip, he chose a brand new crew, a new band, with Christophe Wallemme, great master of fundamental elegance on the double bass, Sylvain Gontard, late designer of the bugle and the young Laurent Derache on the accordion, who gives here in a free and lyrical way, a new breath to the " chills box ".

This choice of instrumentation resolutely turned towards a sound favoring acoustics, the chiseled note, the love of melody and song, in listening, improvisation, the finesse of dynamics, he proclaims it again loudly in this Canto II – Song recorded with the same team thus reaffirming the durability of this group that has been welded over many concerts and tours.

Canto II-Cançon presents twelve new pieces, eleven original unpublished compositions including a tribute to Marcel Azzola with Place Jasmin and another to his native southwest to which he is very attached with Garona morceau where he invited a choir. Sylvain Luc, guitarist who is no longer present, is invited on three tracks and on the cover of More blue than your eyes by Charles Aznavour of which Matthieu Chazarenc was the last drummer.
