Joseph Siankope - The Ambassador Plays New Orleans Greats (2010/2022) [Official Digital Download]

Joseph Siankope was born in Zimbabwe where he started in the world of Jazz with the Neptune Jazz Band of Zimbabwe with his brothers, under the direction of Dr. Cesar Fratantoni.

Since 1976 he has participated in different jazz festivals in Argentina, the USA and Europe, delighting the public with the authentic sound of traditional Mississippi Jazz.

On his trip to New Orleans, the birthplace of Jazz, he is awarded the title of "Honorary Citizen". He plays at the "Preservation Hall" and Allan Jaffe, owner of this mythical place, after hearing him play with that torn sound on Louis Armstrong's own trumpet, gives him a trumpet asking him to always preserve that old way of playing New Orleans Jazz. Joseph Siankope then leaves aside the double bass and drums to dedicate himself as a trumpeter and singer to promote the old style of Jazz.

In Spain he has participated in the Jazz Festivals of Vitoria, San Sebastian, Logroño, Vigo, Madrid, Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza etc. He has also played in most of the old Madrid jazz venues such as Clamores, Café Popular, Segunda Jazz and Galileo Galilei.

He has performed in several television programs such as "Jazz entre amigos" and "El Concertazo" among others.

He has been part of groups such as Siankope Brothers, The Madrid Jazz Band, Missing Stompers and Spirits Music.

In this album Joseph has selected the music of the greats, playing as his ambassador, as a tribute, his most emblematic pieces. He leads his own jazz formation composed of musicians with great international experience such as the Argentines Ramiro Amusátegui (banjo) and Eduardo Marcelo Peralta (tenor sax), the Valencian Antonio Martí (tuba) and the Chilean Víctor M. Gutiérrez (piano and clarinet).
