George Russell and His Orchestra - Jazz In The Space Age (1960/2021) [Official Digital Download 24/96]

Jazz In The Space Age was recorded in 1959 and 1960. It still stands up today as original and with Bill Evans on piano this is an excellent example of just how creative Russell's music was back then. One needs only to listen to this a few times to realize that Russell was doing something very different and this music still stands up as being highly original and timeless. Everything Russell recorded was worth listening to and it is now understandable why he lived in Scandinavia for many years where the musicians there loved and understood his composing. He was an original and his music sounds like no other composer and it is always challenging.
