But the new CD by Franco Fagioli is a clear announcement. And he can afford it. But this does not bother, because above it the voice unfolds freely swinging, the coloraturas run smoothly, Fagioli does not outrun, he always maintains a good, stylish taste and sings beautifully on line. On the CD, which bears the sympathetically clear title "Rossini", he sings arias written for mezzo-soprano, including familiar ones such as from" Tancredi "and" Semiramide", but also less common repertoire (Adelaide di Borgogna, Demetrio e Polibio, Matilde di Shabran). Also a discovery are the excerpts from "Eduardo e Cristina". The cleverly recorded choir " Nel misero tuo stato "is a forerunner of the famous" Va pensiero "from" Nabucco " by Verdi in character and structure. The Athens Orchestra whirls neatly through the scores and plays very accentuated, dynamically very vital, profitably applying the achievements of historical performance practice. So Rossini gives great pleasure, everything has tension and spreads contagious desire to make music. This CD is suitable not only to increase appreciation for Franco Fagioli, but also for Rossini.
