Elvin Jones is one of the most influential drummers in jazz, not least because of his longtime collaboration with John Coltrane. A few years ago, Rolling Stone listed Jones as the 23rd best drummer of all time. The previously unreleased recordings, now released as "Revival: Live at Pookie's Pub," show Jones' reinvention as a leader two weeks after Coltrane's death, recorded live in July 1967 in New York City with saxophonist Joe Farrell, pianist Billy Greene and bassist Wilbur Little.
