I bought Big Joe Williams’ Blues On Highway 49 because it won the French Grand Prix Du Disque de Jazz about 9 years before Jimmy Dawkins won for his Fast Fingers album.
I don’t mind that I have Big Joes effort but it is nowhere near as good as the Dawkins Disque de Jazz winner.
One small problem is Williams plays solo only accompanied by bass player Ransom Knowling on 4 (?) songs.
