Barroco Andino began in early 1974, when Jaime Soto León and a group of young musicians decided to create a band that merged musical elements of European classical culture with sounds and rhythms typical of Latin America. After a rigorous selection of works, the group builds its repertoire with music by Baroque composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach, G. F. Handel and A. Vivaldi, and begins to interpret it with Latin American folk instruments. Thus, the works and timbres of the zampoña, the charango, the tiple and the quena, added to those of the guitar, the mandolin and the acoustic bass, configured what would be a musical style of their own, particular and unique. Until 1977 the group records three albums and receives numerous accolades and awards given by specialized critics. At that time, Barroco Andino enters a period of inactivity and its musicians follow diverse courses.wikipedia.org
