Blind Spot creates music out of a self-understanding that questions everything as much as possible. "We don't know anything, but as soon as we pick up our instruments, a small spark ignites. This is initially vulnerable and needs attention, otherwise it goes out immediately and we are sitting in the dark again. This discussion requires dedication, but no taboos and therefore also explains in a broader sense how Blind Spot has created an album with “Frontmirror”, which covers an enormous range despite the classic trio setting. Modern and partly random-based effect experiments fit seamlessly into earthy rock and blues sounds, whereby neither simple melodies nor contemporary jazz improvisation is made. The spark almost makes fun of revealing contradictions and leading them to the point of absurdity.

Musically, Blind Spot on “Frontmirror” revolve around clear, catchy themes. They modulate, modify, stumble, fall and catch each other again. This results in a lively interplay of electric guitar, double bass and drums. Due to the variety of sounds, the simple melodies turn into multi-layered constructs and get more and more dimensions.

"Frontmirror" is also Philipp Wisser's second album as bandleader after “Just a Glimpse” (JazzSick Records). Here he presents himself even more comprehensively as an instrumentalist of the guitar compared to the first work. "Frontmirror" also contains pieces that are partly due to the first compositions of Wisser. These pieces have now matured over many years and have only now fully unfolded in collaboration with Joan Chávez and Noël Lardon.
