Anouk komt bij ieder album met een andere mindset en als het even kan ook een ander genre. Queen For A Day was een echte soulplaat, Wen d’r Maar Aan een Nederlandstalig album, Trails Of Fails een ingetogen singer-songwriter plaat en Deena & Jim orkestrale filmmuziek. Op Set This Thing On Fire zet Anouk de klok weer eens op rock, het genre waarmee ze ooit haar eerste roem vergaarde. En dat voelt als thuiskomen.
We horen de oudgedienden Hans Eijkenaar op drums, Michel van Schie op bas en Leendert Haaksma op gitaar. Plus DeWolffs Pablo van de Poel op gitaar. Voor het songmateriaal tekende Anouk samen met producer Thomas Azier, hier en daar ondersteund door Martin Gjerstad. In openingsnummer That’s My Heart You Hold neemt ze het meteen op tegen een muur van vervormde gitaren, vooruit én achteruit afgespeeld. Daarna gaat ze nog een stap verder, want haar nieuwe album kan gerust Anouk on speed genoemd worden. Het tempo ligt hoog en met een fuzz op de gitaren én soms ook op de stem gaan alle VU-meters in het rood.
