Pattern Dynamics of Marine Plankton Behavior: Nonlinear Dynamics Applications

Pattern Dynamics of Marine Plankton Behavior: Nonlinear Dynamics Applications by Shu Tang Liu , Li Zhang
English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2024 | 405 Pages | ISBN : 9819753686 | 176.1 MB

To ultimately address this serious issue, this book begins with the nonlinear dynamic characteristics of marine plankton, focusing on the dynamic behavior of both two-dimensional and spatiotemporal patterns. As a critical foundation of marine ecosystems, the frequent outbreaks of marine phytoplankton and the toxicity of planktonic animals pose significant threats to marine ecological security and human health. One of the primary reasons we currently struggle to effectively manage the safety issues surrounding marine plankton is the extremely complex nature of their growth environment, which exhibits intricate dynamic and nonlinear characteristics. By constructing reaction-diffusion models and fractional diffusion systems of the planktonic ecosystem, the book characterizes the various factors in different environments and studies the nonlinear behavior of marine organisms. Employing linear stability theory, multi-scale analysis, comparison principle, analytical techniques, and the construction of Lyapunov functions, the book delves into the following topic: the stability of the plankton ecosystem, Hopf bifurcation, Turing bifurcation and other local bifurcations, spatial self-organization behavior of marine plankton, the formation of spatiotemporal patterns, and the persistence and extinction properties and characteristics. Marine ecology and the marine environment are currently hot research topics internationally, with the behavior of marine organisms being a core area of this research. The goal of exploring these issues is to scientifically understand the features of marine organisms, control their behavior, manage ocean pollution effectively, contribute to human development, and support social advancement. Additionally, the authors aime to make academic contributions and provide guidance to graduate students and researchers dedicated to this field.

Information Security: Opportunities and Limitations by Thomas Liedtke
English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2024 | 219 Pages | ISBN : 3658457104 | 7.3 MB

This book explains the most important technical terms and contents and assigns them to the corresponding areas. It also includes seemingly peripheral areas that play a role in information security. For instance, the topic complexes of functional Safety and Privacy are examined in terms of their similarities and differences. The book presents currently used attack patterns and how to protect against them. Protection must be implemented on both a technical level (e.g., through the use of cryptography) and on an organizational and personnel level (e.g., through appropriate management systems and awareness training). How can one determine how secure data is? How can relevant threats be identified that need protection? How do risk analyses proceed?

TEX in Practice Volume III: Tokens, Macros by Stephan Bechtolsheim
English | PDF | 1993 | 686 Pages | ISBN : 146127642X | 46.2 MB

TEX has always been regarded as the most elegant and powerful system for computer typesetting. However, its widespread use beyond academia was hampered by its complexity. Recently, fairly good TEX implementations have come out for PC's putting TEX on the disks of many people including writers, designers, desktop publishers, and engineers. Consequently, interest in TEX has surged. What is needed at this point is a book that teaches step-by-step how to use TEX, illustrating each step with relevant examples. This is exactly what S. v. Bechtolsheim's book does. It is a tutorial and guide for the first-time user of TEX, as well as a reference for the more experienced "TEXpert." TEX in Practice will appear as a four volume set, starting with TEX in Practice, Volume 1: Basics; TEX in Practice, Volume 2: Paragraphs, Math and Fonts; TEX in Practice, Volume 3: Tokens, Macros; TEX in Practice, Volume 4: Output Routines, Tables. TEX in Practice will be an indispensable reference for the TEX community and a guide through the first step for the TEX novice.

World Green Building Council suggests that health, well-being and productivity should be the next chapter for green building. There is an obvious shift of green building movement from technology-centric towards human-centric, which culminates in recent WELL Building Standard, focusing exclusively on human health and wellness.
This special issue aims to push forward the research, discourse and practice of green building towards more human-oriented design solutions. Particularly, this special issue collects papers on:

Urban Ecosystems: Function, Management and Development by Jürgen Breuste
English | PDF,EPUB | 2021 | 339 Pages | ISBN : 3662632780 | 137.2 MB

This textbook answers important questions about the ecological structure, functions and socio-ecological development of cities worldwide. It explains ecological challenges for cities of the 21st century such as resource efficiency, climate change, moderation of quality of life and resilience. The book combines theories of urban development and ecology with practical applications and case studiest worldwide. It shows that cities are by far not only problem areas but also offer great potential for a good life and that the various urban ecosystems can make a considerable contribution to this. The "eco-city" is a real goal that can be pursued step by step in a targeted manner, taking into account the local and regional context.

This book discusses the potential of a systemic and multidisciplinary design approach to improve urban quality, health, livability, and inclusiveness for people living in informal settlements. In most instances, attempts to address informal settlements lack an adequate assessment of their impact on the wider built environment and implementation of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
