Baden Academy 2015 second graders studied Native American art, including the totem pole. Students wrote their own story, focusing on the importance of sequencing, and also drew and colored character faces that were attached to cardboard tubes to create their own totem poles. Many of the totem pole stories are featured here in this collection. Other classrooms couldn’t stop writing and went on to create stories of monsters and travels, Pokémon and puppies. Whether we are arranging the faces on a totem pole or putting together the pieces of a puzzle, each symbol reflects the mystery and complexity of not only Autism Spectrum Disorder, but the unique diversity of all learners. We hope you enjoy the kids creativity and imaginations! Profits from this book benefit Autism Speaks.
