This book has some of the best illustrations of battleships and armoured warships dating back to the French Gloire. Every single ship listed in the book has at least one accompanying illustration, though the more historically important and significant ones, understandably, are given more lavish ones, some with three-views of the fronts, sides, and tops of the ships.
The text does a decent job in giving an overall picture of each ships with brief histories, as well as dividing the eras to explain the general trends in capital warship development up until the Cold War. One should not expect a detailed technical or service history, but the book is a good primer for those interested in learning about capital warship development.
