Description

Online tutoring is the process of tutoring in an online, virtual, or networked, environment, in which teachers and learners participate from separate physical locations. Aside from space, participants can also be separated by time. Online tutoring is practiced using different approaches for distinct sets of users. The distinctions are content and user interface, as well as in tutoring styles and tutor-training methodologies. Instructing students online can provide educators with opportunities that traditional classrooms may not offer. Using digital platform gives instructors the ability to connect students to learning content in new ways.   An online teacher provides instruction to students through digital platforms such as interactive websites, message boards video conferencing and recorded audio or video lessons. Using the internet as the primary means for connecting with students, online teachers participate in many of the same practices as classroom teachers while meeting with students virtually. Online teachers typically perform job duties such as planning students lessons and assessment, preparing materials and digital content for lessons, delivering online class content through various mediums, grading students work using rubrics and answer keys etc. Online learning can facilitate deeper discussions through extended conversations. As students use messages boards and dedicated questions- and- answer sessions to interact, they develop and construct responses without the pressure of immediate responses.
