Description

It's an incredible sad fact that scams, misinformation, and disinformation is everywhere and invades every aspect of our lives. Online dating, meeting people online, work phone calls and emails, social media posts, even the news that we consume. The threat is real and has evolved to an incredible degree over the years making scamming people and convincing people of false information so incredibly easy it's frightening. Manipulated photos, AI voices that can sound just like your loved ones, fake photos on dating sights, emails that will steal your information and identities no longer requires a highly sophisticated scammer to pull off anymore. Just about anyone with a little time, a smart phone or computer and a internet connection can pull it off. How do we combat this and protect ourselves? In this course will outline a number of different scams, how they work, why they work, and how to identify it. The goal is identification and mitigation though understanding the hows and whys. We will be employing what is known as OSINT (Open Source Intelligence) to help with this goal. Don't worry, you don't need to be a professional investigator or computer expert for this course. This is designed to help walk everyone through step by step.Again, this is not a full blown course on OSINT, this is designed to identify potential scams and misinformation/disinformation in order to help protect yourself and others. As for me, I have been in the network and security space for over 25 years and have various security certifications, ethical hacker, OSINT investigator, online instructor, author on eForensic Magazine and Hackin9 and have several contacted courses on EC-Council and I enjoy training people to help keep them safe online. I hope to see you in the course, and always feel free to message me if you have any questions or problems (even if you haven't taken the course).
