Description
This course delves into the integration of the Reggio Emilia approach within international classrooms, emphasising the power of play-based, inquiry-driven learning to foster creativity, collaboration, and cultural understanding. Students will explore how Reggio Emilia complements a variety of international curricula, including Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), DC Common Core, Early Learning Standards, The Creative Curriculum, and the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (IB PYP).Throughout the course, educators will examine the core principles of the Reggio Emilia philosophy, such as the role of the environment as the "third teacher," the documentation of learning, and the importance of children’s agency in their educational journey. By engaging with case studies, hands-on activities, and reflective discussions, participants will learn how to adapt Reggio-inspired methods to support diverse, multilingual, and multicultural classrooms. The course also focuses on strategies for fostering global citizenship and creating inclusive learning environments while addressing challenges like language barriers, cultural sensitivity, and resource limitations. By the end of the course, participants will gain practical tools to design dynamic, child centred learning experiences that celebrate diversity and encourage meaningful, collaborative inquiry in international educational settings. This course outline provides a comprehensive pathway for educators to deeply engage with the Reggio Emilia approach and learn how to adapt its principles to a variety of international educational settings.
