Learn to construct, outline, transfer and decorate two circular flower patterns to make a card or a gift design.
What you'll learn
Construct a fourfold circular grid using a compass and ruler
Extend the grid by drawing layers of circles
Select certain arcs to create a flower design
Transfer the pattern onto different paper
Paint and outline the designs in various ways
Requirements
The first pattern is suitable for an artist of any level of experience, due to the systematic nature of geometric construction by following simple steps.
The second pattern provides further challenge.
Materials needed: Various paper such as printing paper, watercolour paper or card, tracing paper, ruler, pencil, eraser, compass, waterproof fineliner, paints and brushes or colouring pens/pencils, metallic pen.
Description
Learn with me how to draw two different designs of a geometric curved flower using a ruler and a compass. The patterns in this project can be used to decorate your home, make a Mother’s Day card, as a gift to a loved one for any occasion, or simply for the enjoyment of creating your own art.In this course I will teach you how to construct a basic circular grid in a square arrangement, and then extend the layout to create two variations of a curved symmetrical flower design. The first pattern is suitable for an artist of any level of experience, due to the systematic nature of geometric construction by following simple steps, whereas the second one provides further challenge.I am going to discuss the materials you need to use to draw your patterns.I will demonstrate how to construct a simple circular grid in a square arrangement. Then I will show you how to extend the grid to an octagonal layer of circles.Next I will extend the circular grid with several layers of increasingly sized circles to accommodate an original flower design.I will outline and paint the artwork by creating an effect of two overlapping colours. Then I will teach you how to transfer the second pattern onto watercolour paper or card. Finally I will outline the second flower and paint the finished pattern in a different way.
