Description
•The preparation and finalization of plant and equipment layout for a new process plant is a highly complex activity involving close interaction between various engineering disciplines involved in EPC of a greenfield project.•Civil & Structural engineers play a vital role by way of furnishing critical inputs and drawings for the preparation of plant layout in close interaction with all engineering disciplines.•A large number of documents, drawings, applicable regulations, local laws, guidelines , national and international safety and regulatory standards are to be referred in order to prepare a plant layout which meets the approval of all statutory authorities. A number of critical key aspects are to be considered by the civil engineer while finalizing the plant layout in total co-ordination with other disciplines, specifically with Mechanical engineer and HSE engineer. The plant layout shall be so laid out to comply with following requirements.: 1. Ensure highest safety; 2. Provide for future expansion 3. Ensure safe operation and maintenance 4. Maximize productivity 5. Economize project•This concise course attempts to give an insight into the drawings and documentation to be referred and generated by the civil engineer to carryout the plant layout successfully. A sample layout of a plant considering various aspects is discussed in detail in this course to give a fair idea of approach for plant layout.
