There is so much to learn from the next generations coming after us. They are not like us, and it seems that all the things we are finally discovering in our later years, they have it. Maybe it is because they are the best of us or are learning from our past. The bottom line is that they have something worthy of studying, learning, and admiring. They are an inspiration that we will be okay in our later years. As coaches and leaders, tapping into their essence is a commodity we need not miss because it will push our agendas for better leadership for tomorrow to a landscape of helping the already better leaders. Their lessons to teach us are immeasurable.
The next generations of leaders are focused on things that attach to their being… not their belonging. It is as if they already know that belonging is not the goal. As much as belonging is nice, it is not imperative to who they are and what they bring to this world. The diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts we are engaged in today…they were born with their premise. Their idea of DEI is simple… be yourself and appreciate me doing the same. They seem more comfortable with the idea of the “when you get me… you get all of this” framework, which took many of us years to achieve. They see that the change in the world we seek is found in authenticity. Let's go on a journey together to learn about the next generations of leaders.. to help them… which ultimately helps us all… and brightens a future of positive possibilities.
