Tough ex-cop Han Sing travels from Hong Kong to America to find justice for his brother, who was murdered in an ongoing battle between Chinese and African-American gangs. Han soon takes his brother's place in the war and becomes entangled in the violence, until he falls in love with Trish, the daughter of the rival gang's leader.
Une terrible guerre de clans oppose la famille afro-américaine d'Isaac O'day et la famille chinoise Sing. L'enjeu : le contrôle du port d'Oakland. La tension monte encore lorsque Po, le fils cadet du chef des Sing, est tué. Son frère Han Sing, ex policier, se rend à Oakland, bien décidé à se venger. Il rencontre Trish, la fille d'Isaac, qui s'oppose à son père, et à la violence qu'il incarne. D'abord méfiants, Han et Trish tombent amoureux. Mais la guerre fait rage et Han doit accomplir sa mission.
