Par un matin inondé de soleil, Julie en robe blanche, sort d'une église au bras d'un garçon, David, qu'elle aime depuis l'enfance. Alors que les cloches sonnent et que la noce pose pour le photographe, un coup de feu part d'on ne sait où. C'est un accident, un malentendu, un fait divers stupide, David tombe sur les marches de l'église. Julie devient veuve le jour de ses noces. La vie de Julie, désormais, est liée au souvenir de David. At a party to celebrate his engagement, a young man named Bliss is drawn to a mysterious woman he has never seen before but who seems to know him. Minutes later he is dead, having fallen from a top floor balcony. Coral, a solitary middle-aged bachelor, is pleasantly surprised to receive an invitation to a concert by an unknown woman.
