(Fifty-year-old Henri, a man with Italian origins, runs a small restaurant, La Cantina, near Charleroi with his wife Rita. Once the clients leave, Henri gets together with his friends, Bibi and René, a couple of barflies. Together they kill time while knocking back a few beers and sharing their mutual passion for homing pigeons. When Rita dies suddenly, Henri is devastated.. Their daughter Laetitia suggests that Henri employ a "white butterfly," as the residents of a local home for mentally disabled people are called, to help in the restaurant. Rosette is one of these "white butterflies." She's joyful, benevolent and sees the good in everything. She is only slightly disabled, merely not quite "in sync." She dreams of love, sexuality and a normal life. With Rosette's arrival on the scene, a new life begins.)
