Mentre è in movimento, la pattuglia di Denis cade in un'imboscata. Ritrovatosi da solo, Denis mette il piede su una mina e rimane bloccato nel bel mezzo di un arido deserto. Qualora si muovesse, Denis rischierebbe la morte: psicologicamente a pezzi, deve cercare di resistere fisicamente in una condizione dalla quale da solo potrebbe non avere scampo. Pertanto, è costretto ad attendere l'arrivo degli sminatori, gli unici in grado di disinnescare l'ordigno seguendo le istruzioni riportate sullo stesso.

Storyline
After a convoy of Gallic troops finds itself ambushed by faceless insurgents, two survivors – the stoic Denis (Pascal Elbe) and conniving Murat (Laurent Lucas) – take off in hot pursuit of the enemy. But they’re quickly caught in their tracks when Murat is gunned down and Denis walks over an old Soviet-era mine, which will most likely blow him to bits if he dares to step off it.
