Husband and wife Tom and Emmy receive a video camera left on their doorstep, along with a note telling them they won it after entering a mall prize drawer. So too does university student Beth living on her own. Both parties are told to film everything – only to find after activating it that they cannot turn the camera off. A third camera is received by Leonard, a slacker who lives at home with his mother, along with instructions to put on a clown suit and makeup that has also been left for him.

As Tom and Emmy film everything that happens, they find sinister, unseen figures leaving them taunting videotapes threatening their children, even entering their house. Beth is similarly terrorised by figures outside her apartment. Meanwhile, Leonard is left a series of notes directing him to film himself doing increasingly more outrageous things.

The film follows three groups of people, all of whom have found a video camera on their doorstep and begun filming under the impression that this is the key to winning money from a mysterious competition. Tom (Todd Stashwick) is an average guy filming the life of his family with his wife Emmy. While Beth (Alexandra Lydon) is a bored and isolated college girl that sees the camera as something to fill her free time.

Meanwhile Leonard (Barak Hardley) is a mother's boy that believes that his clown makeup will steal the scene. Each group has been given a label - "The Family" (Tom & Emmy), "The Woman" (Beth), and "The Clown" (Leonard), but they are largely unaware of what is truly going on and are shocked when they receive instructions telling them to keep filming… or else.

Mockingbird is a 2014 found footage horror film that was written and directed by Bryan Bertino. The film was released to video on demand on 7 October 2014 and was given a DVD and Blu-ray release on October 21 of the same year. It stars Todd Stashwick, Alexandra Lydon, and Barak Hardley as three people that have been given video cameras with the instructions to film their daily activities for a strange contest.
