Il terrore dell'aereo e la prospettiva di un volo cadenzato da scossoni e turbolenze, convincono Giovanni Passamonte (Gigi Proietti) incensato scrittore di fama internazionale, a intraprendere un lungo viaggio in auto fino in Svezia. Destinazione: Stoccolma, Sala dei concerti, per la cerimonia di consegna dei premi Nobel. Insignito dell'ambito Premio per la letteratura, Passamonte convince il fidato assistente Rinaldo (Rocco Papaleo) a raggiungere la penisola scandinava prendendo l'autostrada. I due si ritrovano inaspettatamente a condividere l'abitacolo con i figli del vecchio scrittore, entrambi in cerca di una svolta: Oreste (Alessandro Gassmann) ex olimpionico e proprietario di una palestra in fallimento, e Lucrezia (Anna Foglietta) blogger nevrotica e inconcludente. Ogni tappa del viaggio diventa pretesto per guardare ad antiche dinamiche familiari, mettere in discussione le proprie certezze e conoscersi veramente.
