In the bosom of Suburbicon, a family-centred, all-white utopia of manicured lawns and friendly locals, a simmering tension is brewing, as the first African-American family moves in the idyllic community, in the hot summer of 1959. However, as the patriarch Gardner Lodge and his family start catching a few disturbing glimpses of the once welcoming neighbourhood's dark underbelly, acts of unprecedented violence paired with a gruesome death will inevitably blemish Suburbicon's picture-perfect facade. Who would have thought that darkness resides even in Paradise?
Trama
Gardner Lodge vive nella ridente Suburbicon con la moglie Rose, rimasta paralizzata in seguito ad un incidente, e il figlio Nicky. La sorella gemella di Rose, Margaret, è sempre con loro, per aiutare in casa. L'apparente tranquillità della cittadina entra in crisi quando una coppia di colore, i Meyers, con un bambino dell'età di Nicky, si trasferisce nella villetta accanto ai Gardner. L'intera comunità di Suburbicon s'infiamma e si adopra per ricacciare indietro "i negri" con ogni mezzo. Intanto, due delinquenti, irrompono nottetempo nell'abitazione dei Lodge e li stordiscono con il cloroformio, uccidendo Rose.
