At the end of their lives, Hermann and his wife Anna are pursuing the old dream of starting all over. In a sanatorium, German scientists present them with the opportunity of buying the bodies of two young, healthy and beautiful Africans. To ensure their family’s survival in Africa, Apolain and Sarah decide to sell their last remaining possession: their bodies, which are in perfect physical condition. Thanks to the Personality Transfer, Hermann and Anna gain control over these bodies for twenty hours a day. For only four hours at night, after Hermann and Anna have fallen asleep, Apolain and Sarah can regain control of their own bodies.
78 year-old Hermann Goldbeck and his wife Anna visit the Menzana Corporation, which offers aging people the opportunity to have their minds transferred into the bodies of younger healthier people. The bodies have been taken from the poor in Africa where people willingly volunteer in the knowledge that their families will receive money. Hermann and Anna are uncomfortable at the idea of inhabiting Black bodies but after she falls ill, Hermann decides to go ahead with the operation. They wake up in and adjust to their new bodies. The original owners of the bodies, the Malinese man Apolain and the Ethiopian woman Sarah, are allowed four hours each evening to have the use of their own bodies. Apolain and Sarah soon develop a relationship, although this makes Hermann angry. Sarah then becomes pregnant, although they cannot be sure who was in control of their bodies when this happened. Debate rages as to whose the child is or should be. Meanwhile, Apolian resents their exploitation by the wealthy and plots ways for him and Sarah to be free, despite the perpetual security cameras monitoring them…
IMDB
Saw this movie at the bifff (Brussels International Fantastic Film festival). This is truly an exceptional movie and a must see for anyone who likes sci-fi with brains. It is about an old couple that joins a program to transfer their brain to the young body of some third world people. It is about racism, how money makes the world turn and imagines a modern version of slavery. You get to see everyone's point of view : the rich German couple, the people that are around them, as well as the view from the people selling their body for money for their family The actors do a very good job in their dual role (before and after the transfer)
I really loved the soundtrack, hope that it will be on sale someday.IMDB Reviewer
