Don Giulio, a young Roman priest, returns home after being pastor in an island in the Tyrrhenian Sea and is intended for a church in the suburbs. In Rome he found his parents, sister and old friends. But the reality is different from the one he left. The parish is practically deserted his predecessor married, has one child and lives a few meters from the rectory; and even friends have changed (who is on trial for terrorism; those who want to become a priest without understanding why, and who is gay and is living squalid adventures; who was abandoned by his friend and lives in total isolation). Even in family things go better. His father, now old, has a crush on a woman and leaves his wife, who commits suicide. The sister is pregnant with boyfriend and Don Giulio can barely keep her abortion.
