In today’s demanding media climate, a homegrown title with regional editions has stayed the course, rigorously shaping men’s fashion in Singapore for 21 years. From the nascent notion of dressing up for men in the 1990s to suiting up in the 2000s and the exuberant menswear scene of the current decade, Men’s Folio has been through it all.
For this extra-special Vice issue, we have transformed our usual sections into the seven deadly sins. For instance, fashion stylist and writer, Sapphire Chin, showcases the season’s most lust-worthy accessories in a “battle to the death” photo spread on page 48.
Being a leader in the local men’s fashion scene for more than two decades, Men’s Folio is ready to unleash its wrath and go beyond the safe and palatable. We have partnered with Ermenegildo Zegna for its “XXX” capsule collection to explore the world of subcultures in rule-abiding Singapore (page 82). Contributor, Valerie Wong also explores the dichotomy between outcasts and fashion insiders in the face of the “unconventional beauty” (page 80).
Speaking of fashion, Men’s Folio has been playing an active role in shaping the ideals of menswear in Singapore. What better way to celebrate this landmark occasion than with local cover star, Jon Chua JX, who, likewise, shares how he never imagined being a change-maker in the music industry (page 94).
The future is definitely bright. With the rising importance of menswear in the international sphere, we have faith in the greater prominence of Men’s Folio not only in Singapore but also worldwide. Artistic director of Ermenegildo Zegna, Alessandro Sartori, affirms this view in our conversation (page 44) when he was in town over the F1 weekend.
Let us raise a glass and toast to the limitless horizon of Men’s Folio as well as the unventured markets and hidden talents waiting to be unearthed.

Happy 21st birthday Men’s Folio, from your forever fans.
