Swedish singer, composer and bandleader Lina Nyberg has already released 22 albums in her recording career, which began in 1993, when the latest ”anniversary” (Hoob Records) is out now. The theme of the new album is the passage of time and the music referring to the whole cycle of the year was born in an exceptional way. Nyberg asked the members of his band to write down ten words that they visibly associate with different months.

With these words, Nyberg wrote song lyrics for which the musicians and Nyberg himself composed new songs. Together with three borrowed pieces, the compositions formed a series of songs beginning in January (”Januari”) and ending in December (”Dear December”). There are only eleven songs, however, as Nyberg's Jazz March ”the February March” cleverly covers two months in one fell swoop.

The songs represent completely different genres and bind new layers of meaning to the music. The April song is stripped bare and tinged with electronic effects, ”April in Paris.” From the standard interpreted by many other jazz musicians, we move seamlessly to May and the world of classical singing. The swinging "Maj ”is based on Robert Schumann's lied” Im wunderschönen Monat Mai," whose interpretation is now quite a far cry from the traditional lied expression. The third quote is Earth, Wind & Fire's ”September,” a hit from the early 1970s from which the band creates a self-styled rendition.
