The Canadian-Mexican pianist Arturo Nieto-Dorantes is an impetuous virtuoso who ignites the stage the second he merges with his instrument. His impeccable technique, as well as his great artistic maturity, allow him to approach with panache and dexterity the most diabolically complex pieces, thus releasing a real palette of sonic colors. He is one of the few pianists to present Isaac Albéniz's Iberia in concert in an integral version that he has just recorded for Urtext Digital Classics. He is also the first pianist who performed the entire piano work of the Mexican composer Manuel María Ponce outside Mexico.

The press wrote about him: "a master of orchestral sound for piano" (Kurt Rutz, Die Rorschacher Zeitung, Switzerland) and "a Latin American firestorm" (Marian Hartmann, Die Hagener Zeitung, Germany).

Since his debut with orchestra at the age of 14 performing Chopin's Concerto No. 2. Since then, he has performed frequently with some of the most prestigious Mexican and foreign ensembles such as the Mexico Philharmonic Orchestra, the San Antonio Symphony Orchestra or the Quebec Symphony Orchestra, as well as in chamber music with the Cuarteto Latinoamericano and the Arthur-Leblanc Quartet. In addition, he has recorded six albums for solo piano, chamber music and with orchestra, including the disc Tres conciertos para piano de compositores mexicanos (Álamo Records) with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Querétaro and Altar de muertos (Urtext Digital Classics) with the Cuarteto Latinoamericano. His CD Días de Mar y Río (Quindecim Recordings) which presents a Latin American repertoire for concert piano based on folklore, has been highly appreciated by specialized critics. In addition, he is also the creator of the interactive educational website "Playing Chopin" and the recital "The Wizard Piano" which combines the use of augmented reality with the traditional recital.

Winner of several national and international prizes and awards, among which are the National Competition "Angélica Morales", the European Competition "Claude Khan", the International Competition "María Canals", he receives in 2002 the Prize for the best instrumental performer awarded by the Union of Theater and Music columnists of Mexico.

A graduate of the Conservatories of Mexico, Paris and Indiana University (Bloomington) where he studied with the famous Hungarian pianist György Sebök, he also holds a Master's degree in Spanish music interpretation from the Katarina Gurska Higher Music Center in Madrid. Since 2002, he has been a full professor at the Faculty of Music of Laval University in Quebec City and director of the master's and doctoral programs in performance, he is professor in charge of the piano class.
