Yuja Wang has established herself as an international sensation. She plays with the world’s leading orchestras—including those of New York, London, Amsterdam, and Berlin - regularly joining them on tours of the Americas, Europe, and Asia. On her eagerly expected new orchestral album she wows with two perennial hits: Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G major and The Piano Concerto for the Left Hand in D major. Both are heavily influenced by jazz, which Ravel had encountered on a concert tour of the United States in 1928. He composed both concertos between 1929 and 1930.

Starting in Italy in the middle of the 17th century, the cello enjoyed increasing popularity throughout Europe. The instrument experienced its first heyday in the first half of the 18th century. At that time it had just established itself as a solo instrument, and consequently music was enthusiastically written for it. A number of gifted composers of this time were cellists themselves, three of them are presented in the present album; the fourth of our composers was an oboist.

Landscapes it is a look at the soundscapes that make up Pau Codina's universe (Pau Codina profile), a musician of the now and here, indebted to the great referents of his genre (with Bach as the main inspiration and the interpretation of a Cassadó Suite that continues to be iconic for cellists) but clearly close to the authors and current music as evidenced by the inclusion of a work by composer Joan Magrané, first recorded on a disc, as well as the Sonata composed in 1955 by the recently deceased George Crumb.

Ariane Brisson, flautist, and Olivier Hebert-Bouchard, pianist, present Mythes, an album of transcriptions of works by Claude Debussy, Leo Janacek, Maurice Ravel, Ralph Vaughan Williams, and Karol Szymanowski. Inspired by the magical, mythical world of sprites and fairies, the program includes Debussy's Prelude a l'apres-midi d'un faune in an arrangement by Gustave Samazeuilh; Janacek's Pohadka (A Fairy Tale); and Ravel's Sonatine pour piano in transcriptions by Ariane Brisson; along with Vaughan Williams' Lark Ascending, and Szymanowski's Mythes for violin and piano, Op. 30 both transcribed by Ariane Brisson.

Ron Adelaar is a Dutch-based pianist and composer of neoclassical, meditative piano compositions. Besides that he is A&R manager at Andante Piano, sublabel of Disruptive Records run by his son Ivo Adelaar. Ron had an early introduction to piano music, as he started his career at the age of 13 by playing the organ and piano at several churches in his hometown Amersfoort (The Netherlands), all together with his father Ton Adelaar who played the flute.
