If there is such a thing as classical rock music, then Gov’t Mule is the maestro of the method. I’m not talking about classic rock, those hit songs from 15, 20 or 30 years ago. What Gov’t Mule brings to the stage is a way of viewing music that weaves together different styles and genres into a seamless and remarkable evening of music. Given the weather last night at Roanoke Island Festival Park, it was probably a good thing the music was remarkable. There was a constant light rain, yet no one left. The band was that compelling.

Gro-Marthe Dickson is a Norwegian jazz singer with vibrant inventiveness and absolute power in her singing. Dickson is continuously searching for unknown paths to explore and develop in her musical journey. Her main projects are the jazz quartet D-lovely (AMP Music & Records 2019 and 2021) and the vocal improvisation ensemble Oslo14 (Losen Records 2018, NOR CD 2016). Her music blends famous and favorites with lesser-known pearls from Cole Porter’s long and prosperous career. D-lovely presents jazz that is charming, passionate, and has a creative twist that makes a statement through popular music’s greatest composer, Cole Porter.

The profile of Norwegian soprano Mari Eriksmoen continues to rise through her regular appearance on Europe’s major opera, concert and recital stages, and she is consistently praised for her compelling blend of radiant stage personality and purity of vocal tone. This is her first opera arias recital and is focused on Handel and Mozart.

The five wind quintets recorded on this album clearly refer to the neoclassical style, which is directly related to the genre preferences and musical language of each of the presented Polish artists active in the 20th and early 21st centuries.

In the 16th and 17th centuries the vast majority of images of cornetto players are depictions angel musicians, often in the company of angelic voices, viols, violins, trombones, organs and harps. Taking this image as a point of departure, Hana Blažíková and I, following the success of our project “Breathtaking”, have developed and recorded a new program around the pairing of the voice and the cornetto. Once again we explore the wonderful way the voice and cornetto can play off of each other in diverse repertoires from the 17th century to the present day.

Originally founded as Orchestre Poly-Disco in 1968 with original members Melome Clement (founder, vocals), Bentho Gustave (bass), Bernard 'Papillon' Zoundegnon (guitar) and others. Seeking to expand and in search of a soul singer, Bentho and Papillon lured Vincent Ahehehinnou from Daho Jazz, a band with little prospect of major success that often performed in seedy venues.

Johnny Kidd & the Pirates were an English rock and roll group led by singer/songwriter Johnny Kidd. They scored numerous hit songs from the late 1950s to the early 1960s, including "Shakin' All Over" and "Please Don't Touch".

Strauss' Burleske contains, despite the classical sonata form, many original elements, such as the opening timpani solo that al ready embodies within it the thematic substance of the piece.

Frederick Katz (February 25, 1919 – September 7, 2013) was an American cellist and composer. He was among the earliest jazz musicians to establish the cello as a viable improvising solo instrument. Katz has been described in CODA magazine as "the first real jazz cellist."
