Barb Jungr's original take on the songs of Jacques Brel marked her Linn debut. Barb Jungr opted to use specially commissioned translations by Des de Moor and Robb Johnson for her English language renditions; the songs losing nothing in their careful translation whilst allowing Barb to fully explore and explain the emotions within the songs. Chanson: The Space In Between saw Barb turn back to her European roots which had previously been overshadowed in performance by American genres such as blues, gospel and jazz.

This is the 3rd of a series of live performances given in the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam by Martha Argerich. The concerts date from 1978 & 1979 & offer the record collector the opportunity to compare & contrast Argerich the recitalist at that time with Argerich the accompanist now.

Throughout her lengthy artistic career, pianist Martha Argerich has experienced many heights & depths: moments of "crisis" in which she hasn't always seemed prepared to offer the full extent of her artistic insights, but also many, many times when she has managed simultaneously to come into her own & to completely lose herself in music-making. Fortunately it's the latter snapshot of Argerich's career that this CD captures, drawing from 2 live recitals Argerich gave at Amsterdam's Concertgebouw in 1978 & 1979.

How can it be that a recording by one of today's indisputably unequaled pianists performing some of her prime repertory–made fresh within months of her triumph in the 1965 Warsaw International Chopin Competition–could languish for decades in the vaults before its official release? Chalk it up to the exclusivity clauses of rival recording companies and legal constraints from which not even Wotan with the help of Loge could extricate himself. Thankfully this belated EMI release - recorded in a few sessions at the Abbey Road studios - is finally available.

Seafret have come full circle. The Northern duo Jack Sedman and Harry Draper took on the world, releasing debut album Tell Me It s Real in 2016. It s a record dominated by their move to London, signing to a major label, and plunging head-first into an industry they could scarcely understand. Now it's just them. Seizing their independence, the pair have returned to their hometown of Bridlington to work on something fresh, something new, something true to themselves. "I strongly believe that we ve needed everything that s happened to us", insists Jack. "We needed to move down there, we needed to move away from home, be independent, and survive in London… We needed all that. We re back here now… we re like homing pigeons!"
