Is This Workshop for Me?

The target audience should have some experience with React Native and be comfortable with the core building blocks. We will start with Expo Go but part way through the course we’ll convert this into a Development Build, meaning you should have your native development environment set up for the platform you’re focusing on.

Workshop Details

In this course, we’ll move beyond the fundamentals covered in the introductory course and delve into building a production-ready apps with React Native. We’ll explain the differences between Expo Go and Development Builds, and the use Development Builds for part of the course.

We’ll integrate native capabilities that aren’t supported in Expo Go - such as quick actions.

Additionally, we’ll implement an onboarding flow with protected routes, explore deep linking to specific screens, enhance your app with custom animations, haptics, sounds, and more.

By the end of the course, we’ll also cover the steps needed to successfully deliver your app to the stores.

Any Prerequisites?

  • Follow the instructions to install and set up Xcode or Android Studio (or both) depending on which platform you’re planning on developing on
  • If you’re building an Android app, this can be done on Windows, Mac or Linux. Set up Android Studio as per the instructions
  • If you’re building an iOS app, you need a Mac and you should download Xcode from the Mac App Store (it’s 3.5GB so we highly recommend downloading it before the workshop).
